Obedience training with your dog will teach YOU how to communicate with him. Training should always be fun and interesting for you and your dog. Most dogs and their owners benefit the most from having several private lessons then joining a group class. During the private lessons is where the trainer can work closely with you to  correct any problem issues such as jumping, biting or any other unwanted behavior before you attempt a group class where the trainers attention is divided among many other students. Also in these private sessions it is easy to determine the best type of training collar for the dog, how he learns and what motivates him to do as asked. In a group class, depending upon the size, the owner is more at their own discretion for most of the training. Not all dogs  and their owners are successful in group classes because it can be stressful for the dog and offer too many distractions for the human and the dog alike. Before choosing a trainer or a class meet with them to learn about their training methods, how many students are in a class and other important factors that will help you to make the best decision for your dogs training.
